It was a fiercely competitive game from the first whistle, with end-to-end action and great hockey on display. Oxford Hawks started strong, showing impressive teamwork and quick passing to take an early lead.
Wootton battled hard, with keeper Chloe pulling off a string of incredible saves to keep her side in it. Both teams demonstrated excellent use of triangles, maintaining possession well and building momentum through smart, composed play.
At half time, Wootton trailed but spirits stayed high — the team came out for the second half full of determination and energy. A brilliant move saw Jess and Jodie link up beautifully before the ball found Lily May, who calmly slotted it past the keeper to make it 2–1. That goal gave Wootton a real boost as they pushed hard for the equaliser.
The final minutes were intense, with both sides fighting right to the end. Chloe continued to shine in goal, and the Wootton defence stood firm against Hawks pressure.
Despite their efforts, Wootton couldn’t quite find the back of the net again.
