MATCH REPORT Ladies 3 XI vs Oxford Hawks 7 XI

🏑 Ladies 3 Match Report | Oxford Hawks 7s

It was an early start for Ladies 3 as we travelled away to Oxford Hawks 7s on a warm morning, with the sun shining down on the pitch ☀️🏑

The ladies started the game well, making some promising attacks into the Hawks’ 23 and putting the pressure on. However, Hawks quickly turned the play around and managed to get the first goal of the game.

Wootton kept pushing hard and working together, but Hawks managed to find the back of the net again before half time, leaving us 2–0 down at the break.

Half-time fuel was provided in the form of some much-needed oranges, kindly brought along by Gill 🍊, along with plenty of water to keep everyone going in the heat! We had our team talk, regrouped and headed back out for the second half.

There were some great passages of play, with Fryeja, Beth and Sally linking up well to drive forward and get the ball into the D. The ladies continued to battle hard, putting in a huge amount of effort and never giving up, despite the scoreline.

Unfortunately, the final whistle saw the game finish 0–8 to Oxford Hawks 7s.

The scoreline definitely doesn’t reflect the effort and determination shown by the whole team. Every single player worked their socks off from start to finish and kept fighting right until the final whistle. 💪💙

MATCH REPORT Ladies 2 vs Witney 4

A tough home fixture for Wootton Wanderers L2s against a sharp Witney 4s side. Witney took control early and put away two first‑half goals.

Halftime was straight talking: more energy, more teamwork, and more bite.

The response was exactly what was needed. Wootton came out in the second half with proper intent — pressing harder, linking up better, and finally putting Witney under pressure. Azaria kicked off the comeback with a well‑taken goal, and Lily‑May added another to keep the fight alive.

Witney stayed clinical and added three more, finishing the game 5–2, but the second‑half shift from Wootton was miles better than the opening forty.
