MATCH REPORT Ladies 3 vs Oxford University 4
The ladies 3s travelled down to Oxford University on a chilly Saturday morning. After some long travel delays, the team finally assembled and were ready to go.
Initially, it took some time for Wootton to find their feet on the pitch, they began to asses the flow of play from the speedy university students. Oxford struck first, taking an early lead which shifted momentum in their favour. They quickly followed up with a second goal to put wootton on the back foot.
Despite this, Wootton managed to create some attacking opportunities but luck was not on their side. Oxford capitalised on their well drilled penalty corner routines scoring two more goals before half time leaving the scoreline at 4-0.
The second half saw a revitalised Wootton side as the team displayed tenacity, tightening their defence and creating promising attacking chances. Although they continued to push for a goal, the breaks did not yield results.
Oxford pressed for more goals however the defence and keeper chloe prevent further deficits. However, they launched a swift counter attack and broke through Wootton’s defence to bring the final scoreline to 5-0 in their favour.
Player of the match nominations had several players in mind but Fran was named players player for her exceptional play in midfield and relentless determination.
