MATCH REPORT M2 v BHHHHC 5’s
Men’s 2s had a lovely game at home this week against Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead 5s, taking an 8-0 win. The boys worked the ball really nicely around the opposition for Josh to get a back-post goal five minutes into the game, shortly followed by Archer with a lifted ball into the goal at eight. With the wind beneath their wings after a strong start, the boys didn’t let up. Returning for his first game this season, Darren made sure his comeback was noticed by scoring from a short corner. Shortly after, Gregg decided it was his turn and worked the ball around their defenders and midfield for a beautifully clean strike at goal.
The halftime talk was filled with positivity from our resting captain, still watching from the sidelines. We were 4-0 up, the ball was in our court, and we weren’t going to slow down.
This was clear when Nick received a cross at the top of the D and slammed it straight into the goal six minutes into the second half. Some tussling back and forth earned us a short corner, which Jed was happy to take – sending it flying toward goal, only for it to be nicked by Mitch on the goal line, taking the goal for himself. Jed took that as a personal challenge, scoring for himself just one minute later, much to his delight. Gregg wrapped up the scoring for the day with his second, being the only one of seven goal scorers to bag more than one.
It was a very well-fought game (mainly in the Berko half), giving the Wanderers a lovely morale boost after last weekend’s polar opposite result.
Man of the Match Jed Langton
All round great performance, covering every inch of the pitch and being unselfish in setting up team mates.
