MATCH REPORT Ladies 3 vs Oxford Hawks 6
The ladies 3s kicked off their leauge campaign with a challenging encounter against Oxford Hawks.
From the outset, it was clear that hawks were a well drilled team. Just a couple minutes into the match, they struck first taking an early lead.
Wootton recognised the defensive nature of the game and despite the setback showed determination.
However, hawks capitalised on their momentum scoring 2 goals in quick succession putting wootton at a 3-0 disadvantage.
Despite falling behind, the girls refused to let their heads drop as they worked hard to defend against the relentless oxford attacks.
Wootton managed to get some quick breaks through midfield down to the attacking circle which allowed for a couple shots on goal.
As the first half progressed, oxford contained to apply pressure and scored 2 more well coordinated goals before half time leaving the score at 5-0.
Half time saw a change in formation. Wootton’s defence worked tirelessly, clearing balls to midfield in an attempt to regain control of the game.
However Hawks maintained their dominance and quickly added more goals to their tally.
Despite the scoreline, the morale of the team remained high and everyone showed commendable spirit and teamwork, supporting one another.
In the end, the full time whistle blew and the match finished with a 9-0 score in favour of Oxford Hawks.
