MATCH REPORT Ladies 4 vs Buckingham 3
On a sunny Saturday morning, the Ladies 4s took to the pitch against Buckingham. Their warm up was well-drilled, setting the tone for an energetic and focused performance.
From the outset , Wanderers dominated possession, showcasing their skill and teamwork. The first breakthrough came when a magnificent cross from the right half allowed the ball to the poked into the backboard, giving Wootton a well deserved lead.
Energised by the early success, the team continued to control the pace of the game, exhibiting remarkable play that was evident when a second goal was scored from a cheeky tap in at the back post.
However, Buckingham responded with a swift counter attack, overwhelming Wootton’s defence with a flurry of white shirts. This pressure paid off as Buckingham seized an opportunity to reduce the deficit making it 2-1 and momentarily dampening Wootton’s advantage.
Undeterred, Wanderers re grouped, the defenders executed impressive distribution to the midfield who found gaps for the forwards to exploit. This team work culminated in Wootton’s third goal, scored a tight angle reinstating the 2 goal lead. Half time 3-1.
The second half mirrored the first and Wootton quickly regained control of the ball, utilising space effectively harnessing the unique abilities of each player, their 4th goal came from well timed slip to the back post, allowing for a calm finish past the Buckingham keeper.
Finally, after a series of penalty corners in the first half, Wanderers earned another opportunity in the second. They executed a strong routine that led to a fifth and final goal, wrapping up the match with an impressive 5-1 victory concluding a sunny Saturday.
