MATCH REPORT Ladies 1 vs Windsor 2
This week the L1s made the drive over to fancy Eaton to play Windsor L2s. It was surprisingly warm after a flurry of freezing games giving us an awkwardly dry pitch.
The game didn’t start in the wanderers favour, with Windsor’s knowledge of the pitch coming in handy early and a slow dribbler scootched its way past Jades foot.
The wanderers then held control of the game for the next 30 minutes. Windsor’s GK very much kept her team in the game, pulling off some excellent saves and disposing at every ball put at her by the forwards.
With warmth and fatigue starting to drain our energies we started the second half off still very much in control. After some constant chopping from either sides a barrage of green cards altered the game, with players coming on and off constantly, the overall drive turned down from both sides. Windsor capitalise on another break through a gap on the pitch and slotted a second in giving them a 2 goal advantage.
Having enough of defending, Steph made her way up the pitch, clattering her way through to the top of the oppositions D, and lunged forward with a strong slap of the ball towards the crossbar, which Frankie carefully dinked in behind the keeper to finally give us the goal we’d been working for all game.
The final score was 2-1 to Windsor, their GK had worked incredibly hard to give them the win. And Steph bagged her self MOM for the second week in a row for her consistently strong performance.
