MATCH REPORT Ladies 3 vs Kidlington 1
Wootton ladies 3s took on Kidlington 1s in a hard fought match.
Wootton took the lead early with a well-worked penalty corner. Amy superbly deflected the ball into the net, leaving the opposition stunned.
Wootton’s next came soon after when Sally’s quick thinking saw her take an early free hit to Jodie, who raced down the wing and crossed the ball into the circle for Julie to lift into the net over the helpless Kidlington keeper.
Wootton went into halftime with a deserved 2-0 lead.
Kidlington came out for the second half with a new determination and this paid off with them scoring two quick goals, Wootton battled hard but Kidlington were playing well and took the lead with another nice finish.
At 3-2 down Wootton could easily have been deflated but no sooner had Kidlington taken the lead, Julie reacted quickest when Sallys ball into the circle hit the post, and she lifted the ball over the keeper to get Wootton back into the game.
Both teams had given everything and it looked like the points would be shared but after dogged battling in the circle in the last minute, Lily-May won Wootton a penalty corner and Julie’s powerful strike into the bottom corner won the game with the last hit of the match!
