MATCH REPORT Ladies 3 vs Oxford University 4
On a gloomy Saturday, Wootton Wanderers 3s made the journey to Ifley Road for a midday clash with Oxford University 4s. From the first whistle, it was clear that the Wanderers were ready to put on a show.
Julie opened the scoring early with a powerful strike from a short corner, sending a clear message to the opposition. She then showcased her skill as she weaved through defenders, setting up Amy for a diving finish that was unstoppable. Amy then struck again, deftly deflecting Lily-May’s pass into the net, putting Wootton firmly in control at 3-0 by halftime.
Despite Oxford having 12 players on the pitch at one point, they struggled to break through Wootton’s solid defence, leaving their attacks thwarted and frustrated.
After the break, Connie capitalised on a moment of confusion in the Oxford defence, sneaking in for a cheeky goal when they thought the ball had gone out of play. To cap off the scoring, Julie made another dazzling run, smashing the ball into the net to seal a convincing 5-0 victory.
A fantastic performance from the Wanderers, with teamwork and tenacity shining throughout. Emily and Emilia sharing this week’s player of the match. Wanderers 3s march on to the next match!
