Wootton started the game with vigour, maintaining possession and manoeuvring around the opposition. Wootton earned several penalty corners, experimenting their new routines that came close to yielding a goal.
The first half was characterised by end to end action, with Wootton’s defence, led by Young Emily in goal stood firm against Banbury’s advances. Both teams went into half time with the score locked at 0-0.
The second half began with Wootton again asserting themselves, ramping up their intensity pursuit of all 3 points. However, Banbury broke through first scoring the opening goal and putting Wootton on the back foot. Despite this, the girls remained composed amid some questionable descions.
Banbury capitalised on an overload situation, doubling their lead.
Undeterred, Wootton pushed forward in a search of a way back into the game, creating multiple opportunities. A quick free hit was taken and found Rachael at the top of the D, who struck the ball to score a goal, narrowing the deficit.
With momentum on their side, the girls eagerly sought another goal, coming agonisingly close on several occasions.
Unfortunately, Banbury seized another opportunity, scoring again to extend their lead.
The match concluded with a final score of 3-1 in favour of Banbury.
