MATCH REPORT L2 v Kidlington
Ladies 2s vs Kidlington 20/04/24
The ladies 2s played their final match of the season away against Kidlington in warm temperatures. With only 11 players, a lot of hard work was required for wanderers. The game started with Wootton looking strong and fierce, displaying great passing and control on the ball. However, Kidlington quickly turned up the intensity and managed to score the first goal of the game. Despite the setback, Wanderers did not let their spirits drop and continued to attack with determination.
Unfortunately, Wootton couldn’t find the equaliser despite their best efforts. Kidlington, before half time, capitalised on a penalty corner and scored another goal taking a 2-0 lead into half time. During half time, the girls had a tactical team talk which fired them up for the second half.
In the second half, wanderers came out attacking hard. They created several opportunities and a comeback looked promising. The defence, led by keeper Chloe, put up a strong resistance and denied the home side any further goals.
Gill found herself unmarked at the back post and seized on the opportunity to score, reducing the deficit to 2-1.Both teams were eager for more goals but Kidlington managed to snatch another goal, extending their lead to 3. Despite their best efforts, Wanderers couldn’t find a way to break down the defence. The full time whistle blew, concluding the game with a 3-1 defeat for Wanderers.
The final players player award went to Keeper Chloe for her outstanding saves and clearances through the whole game. After an unexpected promotion last season…the girls have done extremely well to remain put in the league they are now in!
