MATCH REPORT L3 v Bicester
L3 v Bicester 23/03/24
In a bright and early 11am pushback, the Ladies 3s faced Bicester. The weather conditions were unpredictable with sun, hail, wind and rain all making an appearance throughout the game.
The match started with both teams distributing the ball evenly. However, Bicester managed to take an early lead by scoring two quick goals. As the first half came to a close, wanderers found themselves trailing 2-0
A halftime team talk from Sally and Sarah delivered motivation. The second half began with renewed determination from the mighty Wanderers. Jess played a fantastic ball through to Izzy on the P spot who skilfully slotted it past the keeper to start the team’s comeback.
Felicity showcased her pace and skill when she drove the ball down the wing, passing it to Jess who assisted Martha in scoring the second goal at the back post. The score was now level at 2-2
Bicester had a lucky break, leading to a penalty corner that resulted in a goal. However Wanderers did not let their heads drop and came back even stronger. Jess delivered a perfect cross to find Martha at the P spot who confidently, for the second time round, found the net.
Wootton’s defence stood strong with Sarah (GK) making some crucial saves and young Emily making cracking tackles and clearances. The game came to a close and the final score stood at 3-3
Overall it was a great performance for everyone on the pitch. The U18 players put in a tremendous effort , and as a result they were awarded joint players’ player of the match (Felicity, Emily, Carly, Jess, Martha, Izzy & Eve)
