On a sodden, cold Saturday morning, the Ladies 4s took to the pitch against Bicester.


From pushback, wootton quickly displayed their intent, utilising every player effectively and creating several scoring opportunities. Their persistence paid off when a well-executed short corner allowed Amie to bolt the ball home, giving the girls a 1-0 lead.


Riding the momentum, Wootton continued to impress with exceptional runs from the midfield backed up with solid defensive play. This was exemplified when Felicity scored Wanderers’ second goal after a cheeky deflection ensured it found the back of the net.


With a 2-0 advantage the girls felt determined to maintain their lead, the defence proved resilient, keeping Bicester at bay with remarkable tackles and tight marking. In the warning moments of the half, Wootton was awarded a penalty flick, despite attempts at tactical intimidation, they were unable to convert and ended the half with a scoreline of 2-0.


As the second half commenced, the atmosphere was electric with the team morale led high. The girls battled fiercely to find a third goal and their efforts were rewarded when Amie executed a reverse sweep that found the bottom corner, extending the lead to 3-0.


However Bicester responded with renewed vigour after a couple of cards and sturn talking to from the match officials, they accumulated two goals in quick succession, narrowing the deficit to 1.


The wanderers eager to secure the 3 points dug deep in the final 10 minutes but Bicester were awarded a Short corner which lead to a scrappy goal equalising the scoreline.


The match concluded with a final score of 3-3 and the points were shared.


Players of the match went to youngsters Felicity and Darcey for their outstanding performance in midfield and defence, showcasing their dedication and determined mindset throughout the game.

MATCH REPORT Ladies 4 vs Buckingham 3

On a sunny Saturday morning, the Ladies 4s took to the pitch against Buckingham. Their warm up was well-drilled, setting the tone for an energetic and focused performance.

From the outset , Wanderers dominated possession, showcasing their skill and teamwork. The first breakthrough came when a magnificent cross from the right half allowed the ball to the poked into the backboard, giving Wootton a well deserved lead.

Energised by the early success, the team continued to control the pace of the game, exhibiting remarkable play that was evident when a second goal was scored from a cheeky tap in at the back post.

However, Buckingham responded with a swift counter attack, overwhelming Wootton’s defence with a flurry of white shirts. This pressure paid off as Buckingham seized an opportunity to reduce the deficit making it 2-1 and momentarily dampening Wootton’s advantage.

Undeterred, Wanderers re grouped, the defenders executed impressive distribution to the midfield who found gaps for the forwards to exploit. This team work culminated in Wootton’s third goal, scored a tight angle reinstating the 2 goal lead. Half time 3-1.

The second half mirrored the first and Wootton quickly regained control of the ball, utilising space effectively harnessing the unique abilities of each player, their 4th goal came from well timed slip to the back post, allowing for a calm finish past the Buckingham keeper.

Finally, after a series of penalty corners in the first half, Wanderers earned another opportunity in the second. They executed a strong routine that led to a fifth and final goal, wrapping up the match with an impressive 5-1 victory concluding a sunny Saturday.

MATCH REPORT Ladies 4 vs Milton Keynes 4

From the start of the match the ladies 4,s battled well to keep possession playing as a team scoring 5 goals in the first half.


The second half was a different story as MK strengthened their backline, and although WW team had 99% possession, we struggled to put away the goals.


Finally managing goal number 6 settling at 6-0 win.


With some great play from our player/coach Amie who coached & involved every single player on the pitch, giving our youngsters confidence and bringing out the best in them.

Ladies 4,s welcomed Witney for a 10.30 pb


The game started for us on the wrong foot and the opposition put away four goals in the first half


At half time Amie our coach and Lizz the Capt
Decided to change the format and positions to enhance our performance
We had a much better second half spending a lot of time in our opponents half with goals coming from. sally & Fiona and despite several more attempts at goal the game finished with a loss of 4-2

MATCH REPORT Ladies 4 vs Aylesbury 4

Ladies 4,s travelled to Aylesbury to play top league opponents with only the bare 11 players.


As club struggled with player numbers this week
It did not deter us as we battled on both sides of the pitch defending & attacking.


32 minutes in Aylesbury scored which left us 1-0 down at half time
2nd half ws progressed more and made several attempts at goal , also acquiring six short corners but luck was against us and we could not put the ball away.


We tired in the second half and allowed the opposition 3 more goals.
Disappointing result


But has to be said an amazing performance by all especially our GOG Freyja who was an absolute star. Must also mention, some great play by Sarah goalie who saved us on numerous occasions

Match Report – L4 vs Bicester 3

MATCH REPORT L4 vs Bicester 3

The ladies 4s assembled in Bicester with a bare 11 players after a gruesome drive over to Bicester through thunder & lightning & torrential rain.

Captain Lizz delivered a motivating team talk for the girls and railed around as they do and performed extremely well for their first league game.

Wootton managed to keep a strong Bicester side at bay as the score remained untouched at half-time.

In the second half, further assault to Wanderers began in their defensive D but with determination and effort from every single player, Wanderers managed to score through a great attack from Felicity, Carly, Freyja and Lana.

Bicester soon continued their onslaught and put a goal away to level the score to 1-1. Further outstanding play continued for the girls with the defence , anchored by Keeper Sarah, until the last 10 minutes when injuries occurred, the opposition put 3 quick goals away leaving the scoreline at 4-1 to Bicester.

Superb play by all team members, some solid strong defence by Sarah (absolute star) Lyndsey, Nicky & Lizz and relentless play by Felicity, Carly, Lana, Libby & Sinead made the game a pleasure to captain

Outstanding play by all especially GOG Freyja for her determination & grit did not go unnoticed.

MATCH REPORT L4 v Aylesbury

L4 v Aylesbury 14/04/24
Ladies 4s arrived on a hot day in Aylesbury with only ten players as they hoped to continue their unbeaten run.
Their attacking mindset paid off immediately when in the first minute, Julie cut out a pass from their defence before driving into the circle, rounding a defender and smashing the ball into the goal, putting them 1-0 up.
Wootton could have scored again with one short corner saved on the line and another just going past the wrong side of the post.

Tireless work from Sophie and Sally in midfield, and pressure in the forward line from Lily-May meant that Wootton dominated and they regained the lead after a strong run from Julie from the half way line ended up with a reverse stick shot into the bottom corner of the goal. This was soon followed by another, this time a well dragged out short corner from Amy was dispatched firmly into the goal by Julie, completing a first half hat-trick.
Wootton went into the half time break 3-1 up.
Aylesbury came out hard in the second half and stretched the game with big hits from their defence but these came to nothing thanks to the experienced Wootton defensive trio of Katie, Mandy and Steph, and they rarely made it into Wootton’s defensive circle.
Another short corner gave Wootton the breakthrough in the second half, when Amy was there to pounce on the goalkeepers save and confidently slot the ball into the goal. It was another short corner that provided Wootton’s fifth goal with another straight strike from Julie.
Lily-May’s hard work paid off when Wootton broke and she was there to dispatch a pass from Julie past a helpless keeper. The final goal of the game came when Sally intercepted a defensive clearance and with quick thinking passed the ball to Julie who was able to dink the ball over the defenders stick before lifting a powerful shot, into the net.
