MATCH REPORT Ladies 2 vs Thame 3
Wootton Wanderers Ladies 2s travelled away to Thame. With promotion out of reach and relegation safely avoided, the girls main aim was to gain enjoyment out of the last weeks of the season.
The match started with a setback for Wootton as Thame took an early lead. However, resilience shone through when Rachael showcased her skill, running half a pitch’s length and beating a defender then striking the ball into the goal, bringing Wootton back into contention. Despite the equaliser, the first half saw Wootton heavily defending against a determined Thame side.
Throughout the first half, Wootton displayed commendable effort, with some excellent marking and teamwork. Unfortunately, Thame converted two short corners, pulling ahead to 3-1. Wootton made several attempts to break through Thames solid defence, but luck was not on their side. The home team managed to score two additional goals before half time , extending their lead.
During the half time team talk, the girls were encouraged to lift their spirits and focus on the positives. Keeper Chloe pulled off some fantastic saves followed by the whole team demonstrating remarkable composure under pressure.
Wootton began to find more opportunities to advance towards their goal. The girls worked tirelessly, applying their skills they had honed in training. Despite the clock winding down, their determination was unwavering as they continued to battle hard.
The match concluded with a final score of 6-1 to the home side.
