The ladies 2s entered the match against Aylesbury riding a wave of confidence after an impressive string of performances. The girls knew it would be challenging with no subs , but were willing to put their all in.


The game commenced with Wanderers applying immediate pressure and effectively shutting down Aylesbury ‘s passing game. However a fortunate break for Aylesbury resulted in a powerful strike that found the backboard, giving them an early lead.


Despite the setback, Wootton remained determined and fought hard to regain their footing. Unfortunately before the could fully recover, Aylesbury struck again, putting Wanderers 2-0 down. Refusing to let their spirit wane, Wootton regrouped and began to mount crucial attacks. Their efforts paid off when Carmen drove skill fully towards the goal delivering a perfect cross to Jess. Jess then pushed the ball towards the far post but ended up slotting it into the bottom corner to reduce the deficit to 2-1 just before half time.


In the second half, Wanderers returned with renewed intensity, eager to maintain their unbeaten streak. Their defence tightened, showcasing excellent man-marking and remarkable goal line clearances that kept Aylesbury at bay. Chloe’s crucial saves further bolstered Wootton’s resolve as they fought hard to keep the game within reach.


The Wanderers persistence bore fruit when the ball started from a 16, to the midfield, then to Carmen who drove the ball down to the 23, crossing it to Sally just outside the D. Sally expertly beat her defender and found Fran unmarked infront of goal who calmly slotted the ball into the backboard levelling the score.


The final ten minutes of the match were fiercely contested, with both teams eagerly searching for the winner. Despite the intense pressure, Wanderers held strong, and the match concluded with the points being shared at 2-2.


Player of the match was awarded to Jess for her phenomenal performance down the wing, showcasing impressive skills in beating defenders. Additionally, a special mention goes to Azaria for her debut for Wootton Wanderers!

MATCH REPORT Ladies 2 vs Banbury 4s

In a challanging double weekend, the Wootton Ladies 2s faced off against Banbury 4s battling the horrendous weather conditions.

Determined for a win, the girls entered the match with a focused mindset. From the outset, Wootton dominated possession, effectively exploring Banbury’s weaknesses and advancing up the pitch.

The midfielders and forwards showcased brilliant link-up play creating numerous opportunities. Their persistence paid off when a shot rebounded of the post, landing perfectly for Jess who swiftly slapped the ball home, ensuring it went in the goal to give the girls a 1-0 lead.

Riding high on this momentum, Wootton continued to exhibit impressive teamwork, both in defence and attack. The defence was solid with precise marking that left Banbury struggling to find a way through.

Wanderers second goal came from Rachael finding Sally perfectly positioned to hold up the ball until support flurried into the 23, Sally then played a beautiful through ball for Kathryn to run on to, perfectly slotting it past the keeper, doubling the lead to 2-0. As the first half came to a close, Wootton had a comfortable advantage.

The second half begun with the same energy as the girls pushed for more. However, Banbury increased their intensity as the half progressed, making it more challanging for Wootton.

Banbury managed to capitalise on a loose ball and redeemed themselves with a goal to reduce the deficit to 2-1.

Despite the pressure, the team kept their heads high and battled hard, generating a flurry on penalty corners but were unlucky not to convert the opportunities into goals.

Wootton’s defence, led by keeper Chloe remained resolute, with some exceptional saves keeping Banbury at bay.

As the weather worsened, the match continued towards its conclusion. When the final whistle blew, Wootton emerged victorious with a 2-1 win, maintaining their unbeaten streak.

Player of the match was awarded to Winnie for her outstanding performance and remarkable defensive work throughout the game.

After a long weekend it was time for the girls to wrap up warm and dry off ready for next week away at Aylesbury.

Wootton wanderers Ladies 2s faced off against the well-structured Abingdon 2s eager to continue their momentum following a successful double-winning weekend. The girls kicked off the day with a strong warm up, proving their readiness. From the start of the match, Wootton displayed dominance, effectively using every player whilst maintaining possession and control.

Wootton’s defence held firm, preventing any scoring threats whilst the midfielders made some good runs into space to strive forward up the pitch.

After 35 minutes the first half concluded and the score remained unchanged. Following a passionate team talk at half time, wanderers emerged with renewed confidence and a desire to succeed in the second half. They began with the same intensity, pressing hard on Abingdon and implementing their training strategies to pass effectively round the opposition.

The breakthrough came when Amie skilfully beat her defender and fired the ball into the bottom corner, giving Wootton a crucial 1-0 lead. With this small advantage, Wootton knew they had to remain focused.

They kept their composure and continued to play with confidence. The work rate from every player was commendable, reflecting their commitment to the game. However a slight lapse in marking allowed Abingdon to capitalise and score an equaliser, bringing the score to 1-1.

Wanderers fought valiantly to regain the lead, coming agonisingly close on multiple occasions. Despite their relentless efforts, time ran out and the girls had to settle for a hard-worked draw.

There was no distinct player of the match; instead the whole team was recognised for their exceptional work rate and cohesive linking play.

MATCH REPORT Ladies 2 vs Thame 2

After two postponements, Wootton Wanderers L2 finally took to the field against Thame in what turned out to be an exhilarating match. Battling through cold weather conditions, the players showcased their resilience and determination, culminating in a thrilling 3-2 victory for Wootton Wanderers.

The first half of the match saw Wootton start strong, demonstrating excellent teamwork and swift play. They quickly took control of the game, scoring two goals and establishing a 2-1 lead by halftime. Thame managed to score once, but Wootton’s offensive efforts proved dominant, giving them a slight edge going into the break.

As the second half commenced, Thame regrouped and applied pressure in search of an equalizer. Despite their efforts, Wootton’s defense held firm, weathering the storm and preventing Thame from capitalizing on their chances. Wootton managed to find the back of the net once again, extending their lead to 3-1. Thame continued to fight back, scoring late in the game to narrow the gap to 3-2, but Wootton maintained their composure and secured the win.

Rachael’s outstanding performance throughout the match earned her the title of Girl of the Game, highlighting her crucial contributions on both ends of the pitch.

This hard-fought victory not only demonstrated the skill and tenacity of Wootton Wanderers L2 but also marked an important moment following the challenges of rescheduling. The team is now looking forward to building on this success in their future fixtures. Well done, ladies!

MATCH REPORT Ladies 2 vs Ladies 3

On a chilly Saturday morning, the Wootton ladies 2s faced off against the Ladies 3s in their first game back after a long spell of frozen pitches.
From pushback, the ladies 2s asserted their dominance on the field. Their feisty attitude and strong teamwork led to numerous scoring opportunities. Wootton quickly earned a series of penalty corners during which they were awarded a penalty flick. However, this was expertly saved by the keeper.


Not to be deterred, Wootton showcased their skill and determination shortly after. A brilliant run from Carmen saw her navigate her way through the defence and find the top of the D, where she unleashed a powerful shot into the goal, putting the girls ahead 1-0.


At the other end of the pitch, Wootton displayed impressive man-to-man marking and displayed solid defensive clearances ensuring the girls maintained their lead at half time.


During the break, Amie’s inspiring and motivational team talk reignited the girl’s spirits for the second half. They returned to the field with their team morale at an all time high.


The link-up play was impressive, with some remarkable runs down the wings allowing for seamless transfers out wide then into the D, resulting in several chances on goal.


Despite the efforts, Wootton were unlucky not to extend their lead, hitting the post twice.


The Ladies 3s soon mounted fierce attacks, but Wootton’s backline remained solid and resolute, ensuring the goal was kept clean.
Another round of penalty corners was awarded to the girls, showcasing some clever ideas and routines, but missing the mark by a narrow margin.
As the final whistle blew, the match concluded with a hard fought 1-0 victory for the Ladies 2s. It was a long, but thoroughly enjoyable match characterised by teamwork and dedication.

On a cold Saturday morning, the Ladies 2s faces off against Banbury 3s under heavy rain, but the weather did little to dampen the spirits of Wanderers. A solid warm-up energised the girls, setting the tone for a fiery encounter.

From the outset, Wanderers looked strong, showcasing their dominance. A brilliant sister link up resulted in Luce netting the first goal of the game, giving wanderers a 1-0 lead. The momentum continued as a well executed penalty corner saw Amie strike the ball, which was helped over the line by a defender, extending the lead to 2-0.

However, Banbury swiftly struck back with a counter attack, narrowing the gap to 2-1 and briefly disrupting the Wanderers rhythm. Unfazed, the girls railed and responded effectively; Sarah smashed the ball from the penalty spot, restoring the advantage with a 3-1 lead. Wanderers received a flick against them but Keeper Chloe pulled off a magnificent save to keep the girls safe from conceding.

The Half time team-talk ignited motivation and aspiration for more from the mighty Wanderers. The second half mirrored the first, with Amie finding the net early on, further extending the scoreline. Another drilled penalty corner routine between Kat & Amie saw Amie find the backboard again making it 5-1.

Wootton’s performance continued to flourish and it was Jess’ turn to join in the scoring frenzy. She struck a perfect tomahawk that found the bottom corner bringing the score to 6-1. Finally, Aime executed a reverse sweep, finding the net for one last time to finalise the score at an impressive 7-1.

An outstanding performance from the entire team saw Wootton emerge as the victors.

MATCH REPORT Ladies 2 vs Oxford University 4

Wootton Wanderers Ladies 2s made the long trek to Oxford University to play their 4th team. Greeted with the crisp & fresh morning air, the girls felt positive going into the game.


Right from the start, Wanderers came out strong, demonstrating impressive passing. Amber made brilliant play, finding Carmen in the D who beat the keeper and flicked the ball into the goal giving the girls a 1-0 lead. With momentum on their side, Wootton continued their attacking efforts, pushing to extend their advantage.


However, Oxford uni responded with vigour, turning up the heat and managing to break through Wanderers’ last line of defence, bringing the score to 1-1. Next, a controversial short corner was awarded against Wootton which Oxford capitalised on to take a 2-1 lead. As the first half came to a close, the girls regrouped, refocusing for the next 35 minutes with a determination to give it their all.


The second half saw Oxford continue to pressure, resulting in several decisions that led to multiple penalty corners for the home side. Oxford took full advantage, converting two of the opportunities and extending their lead to 4-1.
Wootton had their moments , showcasing some good phases of play as they advanced towards the attacking D but they struggled to find the back of the net. Oxford challenged the Wanderers’ defence further, successfully striking twice more with exceptional shots. The match concluded with a final score of 6-1 in favour of the home team.


Player of the match went to captain Chloe, whose resilience in goal and outstanding saves were pivotal in guiding the team throughout the game.


Next week sees the girls at home take on Banbury 3s at the early time of 10:30am

MATCH REPORT Ladies 2 vs Enigma 1

Ladies 2s faced off against Enigma 1s on a chilly morning. From the whistle, Wanderers took charge, showcasing their training as they dominated possession and dictated the flow of the game.


Their hard work in practice paid off when Aime converted a penalty corner, firing the ball into the net giving the girls a 1-0 lead.


The entire team exhibited extraordinary efforts, with the defence remaining largely untested due to the team’s attacking prowess. With multiple short corners, the momentum continued to build.


The second goal came when Luce seized her moment, smashing the ball into the goal on the volley after a deflected pass up into the air, extending the lead to 2-0 before half time.


As they regrouped for the second half, Wanderers were infused with an inspiring team talk. They resumed play with the same intensity, dominating possession and utilising every player to push forward. However, Enigma struck back from a penalty corner, narrowing the score to 2-1. Undeterred, Wanderers responded quickly when Kat found herself with ample space at the top of the D and fired a well placed shot into the net , restoring a 2 goal lead.


Shortly after, another PC for Wootton led to Aime & Kat executing a simple in-and-out routine allowing Aime to push the ball past the keeper for a 4-1 lead.
Enigma capitalised on a moment of gradualness from Wootton in a 16, and used that to launch a counter attack in which they were successful and rebooted the score to 4-2.


Wanderers were determined to finish strong, after a series of beautiful passes and working off the ball, the ball found its way to the back post from a sublime, forceful push from Jess outside the D in which Rachael slotted it past the keeper sealing a 5-2 victory for Wootton.

Ladies 2s travelled away to Leighton Buzzard for an unseasonably late time at 3:30 to play their 3rd team.

As dusk began to settle over the pitch, Wanderers aimed to bounce back from their previous week’s performance.
From the outset, Wootton established their intent, dominating possession and displaying teamwork.


The defence effectively utilised transfers round the back, ensuring that every member of the team contributed to advancing up the pitch.
Despite creating numerous opportunities within Leighton Buzzards defensive circle, Wanderers were unable to convert these chances into goals, missing the mark by mere inches. At the opposite end, Wootton’s defence held firm, with tight man2man to marking preventing leighton buzzard from breaking through. The first half showcased one of the best performances from the ladies 2s this season, but at the break the scoreline remained untouched.


The second half commenced similarly to the first, with Wootton maintaining control of the ball and looking for an elusive breakthrough.
With tired legs and no subs, the girls persisted effectively. Just as it seemed Wootton would find an equaliser, Leighton buzzard seized an opportunity during a counter attack which resulted in a penalty corner, from which Leighton buzzard struck a powerful strike that found the backboard, putting them ahead 1-0.


Recognising that time was of the essence, Wootton threw everything they had into the final 15 minutes, determined to equalise. They created a few more reasonable chances, but Leighton Buzzards defence stood resolute, denying any further opportunities.


The match concluded at 5pm with Leighton Buzzard claiming all 3 points.


Girl of the game was awarded to Kat for her outstanding efforts and determination in midfield where she not only supported her teammates but also showcased her relentless drive throughout the match.

MATCH REPORT Ladies 2 vs Berkswell and Balsall Common 1s

Ladies 2s had the first round of the England hockey cup against Berkswell and Balsall Common 1s. The girls arrived full of energy and determination, boosted by a strong warm up and inspiring team talk.


From the outset, Wootton dominated the first 20 minutes, showcasing excellent ball control and teamwork. They maintained possession, with every player contributing to the flow of the game. Their persistence paid off when Amie scored from an incredible passage of play, giving the girls a deserved 1-0 lead.


As the match progressed, Wanderers continued to apply pressure, creating several opportunities while their defence stood solid and resolute. However, just before half time, Berkswell and Balsall seized a crucial moment to break through, levelling the score to 1-1.


The half time break saw the girls regroup, fuelled by a motivational team talk to boost the spirits. With the knockout nature weighing on the girls’ shoulders, shuffles were in the back of the mind but their main focus was on the next 35 minutes.


The second half opened with Wootton showing strong teamwork, looking to regain control of the match, However B&B capitalised on an opportunity to net their second goal taking a 2-1 lead.


Despite the setback, the mighty wanderers refused to let their heads drop, putting in valiant efforts to find an equaliser. They made good use of the space to transfer the ball but unfortunately the spark that characterised their early performance seemed to fade.


As the game progressed, a card was awarded to wootton, giving them further challenges in the last 10 minutes, but their match concluded with a final score of 2-1 to Berkswell and Balsall Common meaning wanderers are out of the cup.


Despite the disappointing result, the girls battled extremely hard and left everything on the pitch. Player of the match went to the youngsters Luce & Emily, who displayed outstanding performances both in the forward line and defensive line putting 110% effort into the game. Next week sees the girls over at Leighton buzzard hoping to bounce back with a win.
