Wootton wanderers Ladies 2s made the final trek of the season down the A43 to face Kidlington.
With a robust squad at their disposal, Wootton were ready for action.
From the outset, Wootton demonstrated their dominance, effectively finding breakthroughs through Kidlington and utilising space brilliantly. This early pressure paid off when Kat executed a quick free hit delivering a perfect ball to Jess who with a deft touch, struck the ball into the bottom corner giving wanderers a well-deserved lead.
Building on the momentum, Wootton continued to attack with aggression. However, Kidlington responded with a swift counter attack managing to score their first goal and level the match.
Unfazed, Wootton tightened their marking and defensive work, holding firm against a series of penalty corners. Despite their best efforts, Kidlington found themselves in the D, crossing the ball across the goal to get their second goal, ending the half with a scoreline of 2-1 in their favour.
The half time team talk ignited fire within Wootton as they entered the second half with renewed determination and a desire to win. The girls battled hard and their efforts paid off when they found acres of space to exploit leading to waves of attack.
A short and sweet penalty corner routine saw Azaria make her mark with a perfectly timed deflection, scoring her first goal for Wanderers and levelling the score once more.
Riding on the high, Wootton continued to press and their persistence was rewarded when Azaria set up Sally infront of goal who smashed the ball home to restore Wootton their lead once again.
Wootton maintained their attacking momentum, testing Kidlington right up to the final whistle.
The match soon concluded with a final score of 3-2 to Wootton Ladies 2s.
