MATCH REPORT Ladies 2 vs Oxford 6

In the final game of the season, Ladies 2s faced off against Oxford 6. With a strong squad assembled, the team was ready to give it their all.

However the start of the match saw Wootton concede an early goal, quickly followed by another leaving them 2-0 down. Despite the challenging start the girls fought relentlessly, but something seemed amiss as the first half came a close with the score at 3-0 in favour of Oxford.

During the half time team talk, the focus shifted to having fun and rediscovering our rhythm. The second half began with renewed energy as Wootton found their feet and began to raise their confidence. Notably, Oxford had removed their keeper, leaving them with 11 players on pitch. The tactical shift allowed Wanderers to capitalise on the opportunity.

Rachael struck a perfect shot that rolled into the empty goal, igniting the spirits of the team. Just a minute later, Rachael found the back of the net again, with a stroke of luck as the ball slipped across the goaline at the last moment. Both teams continued to battle fiercely and Wootton made significant progress , demonstrating their determination to turn the tide.

In the dying moments of the game, the girls were awarded a penalty corner. With no goalkeeper to block their shots, they seized the chance. With no hesitation, Emily slapped the ball into the bottom corner to level the score to 3-3.

As the clock wound down, the focus shifted to defence. With eveyone behind the ball, the girls stood firm against Oxfords final
attempts to take the lead.


The match came to an end with a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Girl of the game was split amongst 3 , Ellen, Azaria and Emily for their grit and determination in igniting a fuelling comeback.

This draw confirmed the Ladies 2s finished 4th in a challanging leauge making significant improvements from last season.

Match Report – Ladies 2 vs Kidlington 1

MATCH REPORT Ladies 2 vs Kidlington 1

Wootton wanderers Ladies 2s made the final trek of the season down the A43 to face Kidlington.


With a robust squad at their disposal, Wootton were ready for action.
From the outset, Wootton demonstrated their dominance, effectively finding breakthroughs through Kidlington and utilising space brilliantly. This early pressure paid off when Kat executed a quick free hit delivering a perfect ball to Jess who with a deft touch, struck the ball into the bottom corner giving wanderers a well-deserved lead.


Building on the momentum, Wootton continued to attack with aggression. However, Kidlington responded with a swift counter attack managing to score their first goal and level the match.


Unfazed, Wootton tightened their marking and defensive work, holding firm against a series of penalty corners. Despite their best efforts, Kidlington found themselves in the D, crossing the ball across the goal to get their second goal, ending the half with a scoreline of 2-1 in their favour.
The half time team talk ignited fire within Wootton as they entered the second half with renewed determination and a desire to win. The girls battled hard and their efforts paid off when they found acres of space to exploit leading to waves of attack.


A short and sweet penalty corner routine saw Azaria make her mark with a perfectly timed deflection, scoring her first goal for Wanderers and levelling the score once more.


Riding on the high, Wootton continued to press and their persistence was rewarded when Azaria set up Sally infront of goal who smashed the ball home to restore Wootton their lead once again.
Wootton maintained their attacking momentum, testing Kidlington right up to the final whistle.


The match soon concluded with a final score of 3-2 to Wootton Ladies 2s.

Match Report – Ladies 4 vs Leighton Buzzard Fledgling

MATCH REPORT Ladies 3 vs Leighton Buzzard Fledgling

The last match of the season against a chirpy fledgling squad. With most of the game was played in the opposition’s half, the great goals just kept coming! Unfortunately the home team scored a couple of corkers just before halftime.


A team talk and sweet intake for us L4s meant we again dominated the 2nd half. A great run up the wings by 3 of the teenagers resulted in a debut goal for the youngest of the Hone’s in a 3 generation game.

Match Report – Ladies 3 vs Enigma 1

MATCH REPORT Ladies 3 vs Enigma 1

Wootton ladies 3s continued to dominate the league with a 6-1 victory over Enigma 1s.

In what was a very physical match Wootton took the lead early after Julie dribbled past the enigma defence before slotting the ball home at close range. Julie’s second came soon after when Lily-Mays perfectly placed through ball made it through to her at the top of the circle to finish with a strong hit past enigmas helpless keeper.

Enigma worked hard to get on the score sheet and did just before half time with a scrappy goal. The match was 2-1 at half time.

In the second half despite persistent fouling from the enigma team, Wootton battled hard and Julie scored again from the top of the circle before Trudy got onto the scoresheet with a well finished first time goal after a cross from the hard working Jodie.

Julie scored another with a lifted shot after dribbling past defenders and then scored the final goal of the game in the last play of the match when she pounced on the poor clearance at a short corner and slotted home.

Player of the match was Julie but this was a true team performance.

Match Report – Ladies 2 vs Thame 3

MATCH REPORT Ladies 2 vs Thame 3

Wootton Wanderers Ladies 2s travelled away to Thame. With promotion out of reach and relegation safely avoided, the girls main aim was to gain enjoyment out of the last weeks of the season.


The match started with a setback for Wootton as Thame took an early lead. However, resilience shone through when Rachael showcased her skill, running half a pitch’s length and beating a defender then striking the ball into the goal, bringing Wootton back into contention. Despite the equaliser, the first half saw Wootton heavily defending against a determined Thame side.


Throughout the first half, Wootton displayed commendable effort, with some excellent marking and teamwork. Unfortunately, Thame converted two short corners, pulling ahead to 3-1. Wootton made several attempts to break through Thames solid defence, but luck was not on their side. The home team managed to score two additional goals before half time , extending their lead.


During the half time team talk, the girls were encouraged to lift their spirits and focus on the positives. Keeper Chloe pulled off some fantastic saves followed by the whole team demonstrating remarkable composure under pressure.


Wootton began to find more opportunities to advance towards their goal. The girls worked tirelessly, applying their skills they had honed in training. Despite the clock winding down, their determination was unwavering as they continued to battle hard.


The match concluded with a final score of 6-1 to the home side.

Match Report – Ladies 1 vs Yateley 1

MATCH REPORT Ladies 1 vs Yateley 1

Saturday brought a tight, back-and-forth match against Yateley for our last game of the 2024/25 season.

Wootton started on the front foot, unlike our usual style, and quickly after the starting whistle, Mason slotted in the first goal after a quick assist from Ellie.
Yateley were quick to level the score, and the majority of this game followed that pattern.
Easton used her slick skills to nutmeg the goalkeeper not once but twice, weaving her way around the defenders.
Yateley struck again both times, finding gaps above Jade’s small stature. The defense pulled off some awesome goal-line clearances, both on the line and in mid-air.
But with a clean reverse hit in a busy D, Yateley found the winning goal.

MOM this week went to Easton for her skills and determination up front.

Spirits remained high post-game. After gaining promotion last season, we were more than happy with our mid-table finish.

The ladies celebrated with a cheeky night out, and we’ll be back in September with our sights set on bettering ourselves and our table position next season!!!

MATCH REPORT Ladies 3 vs Thame 4

A fresh spring morning was not what we were expecting whilst hosting the Thame squad.

Although most of the game was played in the opposition’s half, shots on goal were tricky to pull off.


A 2 great goals meant the home team were on the up just before halftime.


A team talk and sweet intake for us L4s meant we again dominated the 2nd half.

Match Report – Ladies 3 vs Kidlington 1

MATCH REPORT Ladies 3 vs Kidlington 1

The L3s played away against Kidlington after winning the league the week before. It was a tough, evenly matched game.

The first goal went to wootton when Mandy took a free hit to Sophie who was running down the wing, Sophie found Julie with a pass into the circle and Julie slotted the ball home.

Kidlington equalised before half time, after some strong attacking play.

After the break Julie scored another from close range after Amy found her with a pass after some skilful play in the circle.

Kidlington then scored two from contentious short corners which made Wootton even more determined not to be beaten.

With minutes to go Julie smashed a shot high into the goal and levelled the match.

Player of the match was Amy for an excellent all round game in midfield.

Match Report – Ladies 1 vs Sonning 2

MATCH REPORT Ladies 1 vs Sonning 2

With just two games remaining, Wootton Wanderers Ladies 1s find themselves comfortably mid-table, with both promotion and relegation out of reach. Saturday’s match against Sonning offered little excitement but did showcase the team’s resilience.

The game saw both teams display their strengths and weaknesses, but it was Sonning who found the decisive crack early in the second half, scoring the only goal of the match to secure a 1-0 win. The Wanderers’ defense kept them in the game for the majority of the 70 minutes, with Abby making several extraordinary goal-line saves to deny the opposition.

Young Ellie and Mason shared the Player of the Match honours, both delivering stellar performances in midfield.

With one game left in the season, the Wanderers will be looking to iron out a few wrinkles and aim for a 3-point finish.
