MATCH REPORT Ladies 2 vs Oxford 6
Following a victory on the Saturday, the ladies 2s faced off against Oxford 6.
From the start, Wanderers dominated possession, showcasing their strength and effectively using every player on the pitch. However, it was Oxford that scored first after a fortunate counter attack caught Wootton off guard.
Despite the setback, Wootton refused to let their heads drop and continued to battle hard, supporting eachother and maintaining their focus. Their persistence paid off when Julie delivered a through ball to Amber who fired it into the net, equalising the score.
As the half progressed, the defence worked tirelessly whilst the girls were eager to find another goal. Just before half time,
they came agonisingly close with time running out just before the shot could get away.
Half time 1-1.
The second half began with heightened intensity and a strong desire to secure the win. Wootton displayed excellent link up play and passing, leading to a short corner which allowed Amber and julie to work together for Julie to find a reverse shot that found the backboard, putting the girls 2-1 ahead.
Riding the momentum, the girls struck again shortly after Jess expertly found Julie in the D who hit the ball firmly, extending their lead to 3-1.
Strong defensive work from the team provided stability, highlighted by a crucial flick save from Keeper Chloe.
Unfortunately, a slip in marking allowed Oxford to penetrate the D and score their second goal, bringing the scoreline to 3-2.
However, with two minutes remaining, the girls settled down ensuring they maintained possession as secured all 3 points. The match concluded with a hard-fought 3-2 victory for Wootton.
