MATCH REPORT M2 v Thame 3’s
The men’s 2’s regrouped in Thame for the first match of the calendar year with a good mix of youth and experience including two new members.
It was a chilly start waiting for the changing rooms to be opened but we managed to squeeze in a good 10 minute warm up before push back.
Sadly, we obviously did not warm up enough as we then conceded the first of many goals to come in the first few minutes. Optimism remained high as we fought our way back into the game with skipper Chadders picking up the ball, driving into the D and rifling a shot across the keeper into the side netting. Bringing the scores level after 12 minutes. Unfortunately, as the first half progressed so did the home team’s scoreline which due to some errant play on our behalf led to the score being 5-1 at half time.
We regrouped at half time with some constructive self criticism and restarted the second half with renewed vigor. But the crisper passing of Thame saw them achieve another flurry of goals with the only bright spot for Wanderers being a masterful slip from young Josh which enabled Mark to gather the ball, go around the keeper and slot home to secure a second goal.
Final score 8-2 for the home side with much to work on in the coming weeks.
Man of the Match John Bennett
