MATCH REPORT M2 v Aylesbury Devt
On a cold but bright Saturday February afternoon, Wootton men’s 2s pushed back at home against Aylesbury Development.
Wootton started the match and went on the attack pushing hard towards the Aylesbury goal, both teams had to defend hard as each in turn probed forward. The half saw both teams enter their opponents D a number of times. Aylesbury scoring 2 goals and JB scored Wootton’s first of the match with a dipping piledriver from a penalty corner.
During the second half, the game continued in the same vein as the first, but Aylesbury scored an early goal to take their lead to 3 – 1. After a period of defence Wooton attacked again into the Aylesbury D gaining our second penalty corner of the match, which was well taken: Mark scoring our second goal. With the boost of a goal, Wootton attacked hard looking for the goal that would make the game a draw, unfortunately this elusive goal did not come and the game ended 3 – 2 to Aylesbury.
Wootton played some great hockey in both halves of the game, with Layton being awarded Player of the Match for Wootton.
